A Product Carbon Footprint Tool by Doconomy. Desktop Beta Version 1.0_Apparel

The 2030 Calculator (Beta version 1.0_Apparel) was launched by Doconomy with the ambition for product brands (and material suppliers), to better understand the carbon footprint of the products and materials they produce as well as provide the transparency that will allow consumers to make informed consumption choices.

To complete a product carbon footprint calculation, the user has to have production data available including the total weight of the product as well as the weight and material of each product part (or piece of packaging material), the location of each material supplier, the location of the manufacturing facility (and type of energy used) and the location of the final distribution center, including the modes of transport between them.

Please list each individual part (consisting of a unique material) of the product separately, including the material category, subcategory, quality and weight (in grams), location of material supplier and mode of transport from supplier to manufacturing facility.

03. Energy & Transportation

Please enter the location of the product manufacturing facility and the energy source (renewable or non-renewable) used by the facility. If the energy source is not known, please select 'I don't know' from the drop-down list. The 'Total Energy Consumed' will be calculated automatically based on weight of material, product category and energy source selected, however if the actual kWh of energy consumed in production is known, this can be entered manually.

Calculations made by using The 2030 carbon footprint for products (CFP) calculator are calculated on average emissions factors for materials, energy consumption and transportation based on product category, total weight of product, the weight of unique materials used in each product (or packaging) part, location and distances between supplier, manufacturing facility and distribution center and modes of transport between each as well as the source of energy used in production. Carbon Footprint calculations made by The 2030 Calculator cover the cradle-to-gate phases of a typical product life-cycle assessment which are under the operational control of the product manufacturer. These calculations are not intended to provide an exhaustive assessment of a product’s GHG footprint as would be the purpose of a full product life-cycle assessment.
